SUMMARY:Swishing!
DESCRIPTION:GET READY TO SWISH! \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur next meeting on 10th May at 8pm\, we will be Swishing (or Schwapping). The idea is to bring wearable items that you would consider giving away to a friend\, charity or clothes recycling and happy to be parted with them. You will not receive any payment for the garment just satisfaction that we are doing our bit for the planet and making a fellow member very happy! Hopefully you will go home with something equally gorgeous. \n\n\n\n• Bring up to 10 clean\, good condition items of women’s clothing\, shoes\, accessories\, handbags etc (excluding swimwear\, earrings\, nightware\, underwear) at the very beginning of our next meeting. If the item has a reparable flaw\, please put a note on the garment for others to see (e.g. missing button but spare on tag). Please take all reasonable measures to check the condition and provenance of any item brought along.• Check in your items with a Committee Member and receive 1 token for every suitable item brought (discretion will be given to expensive/designer items) and please don’t be offended if we are unable to take your item (for example\, something that has shrunk\, is stained\, broken zip\, missing sequins\, rips\, tears\, pulls\, holes\, disintegrating seams or hems\, piling\, etc)• Place them on the relevant sizing rack• Grab yourself a drink/snack available for sale at our YWI Bar\, peruse the raffle\, sit at a table and chat with your friends• At the sound of the President’s claxon\, YWI members and their guests can view the items (no reserving\, shoving\, elbowing\, hair pulling or hiding items allowed!) for a 15 minute period• At the second sound of the President’s claxon\, members sit down at their table and table numbers will be pulled out of a hat in turn – members from that table will have a few minutes to choose ONE item. We will try to allocate a loo or a screened off area for changing if possible. Tables will be called up in turn and repeated until all SWISHING has stopped.• Swap a token for the item at the YWI check out \n\n\n\nIf you do not have any items to bring but would still like to join in\, we can sell YWI tokens for £2.50 each. \n\n\n\nAll unused tokens will be void at the end of the SWISH and not cash transferable. \n\n\n\nPlease take home any un-swished items as unfortunately\, we are unable to store anything. \n\n\n\nPlease bring a friend (and a bag to carry home your items) – it is free if this is their first meeting\, and do bring some cash as we will have a small bar open for drinks and a raffle which will be drawn on the night. \n\n\n\nThe Committee would also welcome feedback on the event (what worked well and what we could do better) as we may do this for the public in the autumn as a YWI Dormansland fund raiser and value your suggestions. \n\n\n\nTHE NFWI supports this type of event but with one rule – NO FIGHTING LADIES!! 🙂
